LACKERED reimagines objects through brutalist and organic form, custom sultry color, and handcraft—creating sculptural pieces that spark conversation.

THE COLLECTION

LACKERED is a collection of repurposed objects shaped by brutalist, organic, and geometric form.  Our studio sources vintage and contemporary pieces from around the world, thoughtfully selected for their structure, proportion and presence.

Color is integral to our process. Each custom shade is developed through our lens in close collaboration with a colorist, resulting in dense, deliberately sultry tones.

Every piece undergoes a period of study as we identify what we feel is lacking. As the creative vision takes shape, construction and deconstruction with our artisans begin. The process includes welding, soldering, casting, carving, painting and felting to reimagine the object while preserving its inherent beauty.

LACKERED objects are meticulously adapted by hand, and no two are alike, creating singular works intended to evoke emotion and start a conversation.

OUR FOUNDERS

LACKERED began with two long time friends who share a natural eye for design and a love for saturated color. After two years spent in discovery, founders Gail Rubin and Erica Levit created a deeply personal collection of one of a kind objects that reflect their taste for raw and unusual compositions.

Erica and Gail first met in their twenties living in New York and working in fashion. Erica worked at Barneys NY, Bergdorf Goodman, Donna Karan, Bloomingdales, later returning to Houston where she launched the interior book for PaperCity Magazine. Gail began her career in-house at Ralph Lauren before segueing into fashion PR in NY, later relocating to Houston to launch a lifestyle PR and marketing firm she helped build and direct for over 20 years.

For two founders known for their avant-garde sensibility, LACKERED is anything but, bringing a bold splash to the interior world.
